A Look at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in 2004
It is quite interesting to see how the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure has reinvented the way in which poker tournaments are usually held. From the 18th to the 25th of January 2004, this Caribbean tournament made its debut aboard the very luxurious and elegant Voyager of the Seas passenger ship run by the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. About 600 people gathered for this prestigious event. During this time, the World Poker Tour owned the rights to feature this grandiose event.
After the fifth day of the event, the six players who have made it into the final table were declared. They include Remco Schrijvers, Daniel Negreanu, Hoyt Corkins, Michael Benedetto, Gus Hansen and John D'Agostino. These players emerged on top after days of grueling poker battles.
On the last day of the event, the moment of truth arrived as the players compete wholeheartedly to become the ultimate champion of this poker tournament. The people aboard the luxury liner were graced with the presence of poker greats such as Tom McEvoy, Chris Ferguson, Howard Lederer, Chris Moneymaker, Linda Johnson and Brad Daugherty. Fans got so excited upon seeing these great professional poker players aboard with them.
A good and very exciting start took place as Hansen raised to 19,000 while Schrijvers went all-in. The two nervously awaited the result of their duel. But it was Hansen who triumphed from that situation as he closely defeated the hand of Schrijvers. This proved to be fatal for Schrijvers as Hansen continued on to fight for the right to become the tournament champion.
In the end, it was Corkins who went up against Hansen in the final round. No matter how close and exciting their game would become, only one will come out victorious in the end. The two poker pros seriously played out their hands by using strategies that would help them achieve what everybody else has come here for.
After a very exciting series of wonderful events, it was Hansen who won against the inferior hand of Corkins. From this very exciting and fun tournament, Hansen was able to take home the grand pot which is valued at $455,780. This debut season for the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure proved to be a success for the entire poker world as it contributed greatly to the popularity of the game on a worldwide basis.
